Spotlight: Mapping the Mangroves
Mapping the Mangroves is a project focused on increasing awareness, promoting conversations, and fostering action around preservation of the world's mangroves. Launched on April 22, 2012, QFI is celebrating the one year anniversary of the project on Earth Day Qatar 2013 and have created this short, informative and fun video. From Qatar to Brazil to Costa Rica, QFI students and youth ambassadors have mapped mangroves and engaged local communities in a conversation on the environment and conservation.

Every year on April 22nd, more than one billion people take part in Earth Day. This year in Qatar, QFI and WeVideo have launched "Climates Change, Can You?" a global, collaborative video space. Anyone, anywhere in the world can add their voice to the climate change conversation by recording a short message, remixing their voice with those of others, and editing a short 2-minute that could be submitted to film festivals across the world. Arabic Workshop at Concordia Language Village
Through a grant from QFI, Concordia Language Villages is able to offer Qatar Professional Development Workshops this spring and fall with full scholarships, substitute teacher reimbursement, and travel stipends for current and future teachers of Arabic.

Featured Program: NECTFL
QFI is pleased to announce that it will contribute $5,000 to Arabic related activities at this year’s NECTFL Conference. Funding will provide for teacher travel stipends, which will allow Arabic K-12 teachers from across the United States to attend NECTFL.
