Collaborative Learning
Through its Collaborative Learning projects, QFI helps place hundreds of young people from diverse social and economic backgrounds into effective learning environments - both inside and outside the classroom - with a focus on critical areas such as language and cultural competency, and science and technology. Underlying all of our Collaborative Learning initiatives is the use of creative and appropriate technologies to link classrooms across the world and expand access to educational opportunities and resources. Our programs emphasize online collaboration, project-based learning and cultural exchange in the areas of Arabic Language and Culture Initiative (ALCI) and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). QFI harnesses the collective knowledge and experience of students and teachers in ALCI and STEAM through its Global Schools Network.
Open Education
Open Education holds much promise in its potential to address demographic, economic, and geographic educational divides. QFI’s approach to Open Education is one that is driven by context, aimed at developing a user-centered experience and fostered by an open participatory community, that unites diverse groups of learners across the globe.
Arabic Language and Culture Initiative (ALCI)
Responding to the need for deeper, more positive engagement between people living inside and outside the Arab world, QFI launched the Arabic Language and Culture Initiative (ALCI). The program provides new opportunities for students from a wide variety of backgrounds to acquire basic Arabic, learn more broadly about the Arab world's history and culture, and meet their peers - both virtually and in person. Examples of such programming have already taken place with students from throughout the United States, Brazil, and Qatar.
STEAM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math
QFI's STEAM initiative is a collaborative effort involving students, educators, researchers, industry and NGOs to stimulate interest in the STEAM fields. QFI's programs use innovative models that engage students both inside and outside the classroom through experiential learning, competitions and cross-cultural collaborative projects.
