Approach
Open Education holds much promise in its potential to address demographic, economic, and geographic educational divides. QFI’s approach to Open Education is one that is driven by context, aimed at developing a user-centered experience and fostered by an open participatory community, that unites diverse groups of learners across the globe.
Why
The continued improvement in free online collaboration tools and growth of Open Education Resources (OER) present new possibilities for teaching, learning, authorship and discovery. Learners today expect to participate in an environment that mirrors their lives and their futures - one that seamlessly integrates today’s digital tools, accommodates a mobile lifestyle, and encourages collaboration.
QFI’s commitment to online global education provides opportunities to create social learning communities for educators, dedicated to resource discovery, standards aligned content, authorship and life long learning. Perhaps the most valuable educational resource yet to be ‘opened’ is the open educational experience, allowing for conversation and knowledge sharing between the world’s students, teachers, and classrooms.
