Mission
Qatar Foundation International (QFI), LLC, is a U.S.-based affiliate of Qatar Foundation (QF) dedicated to advancing QF’s mission and Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser’s vision of connecting cultures and advancing global citizenship through education. QFI is a not-for-profit organization in Washington, D.C., focused on grant-giving and programmatic activities that promote education as a force that facilitates collaboration across geographical, social and cultural boundaries. QFI, a special project of Her Highness Sheika Moza, is funded by Qatar Foundation, an independent, private, non-profit chartered organization based in Doha, Qatar.
QFI will implement its mission through innovative educational and volunteer programs, which inspire lasting exchanges of experience and knowledge. Our programmatic focus is on interrelated issues of global importance: education, youth engagement, and technology. QFI’s vision is of a world that embraces and respects diversity, values lifelong learning, and empowers individuals to take action to shape their future.
Featured Program: YALLAH
Conceptualized by two QFI alumni, YALLAH is both an online forum for former participants in QFI exchange programs to communicate on topical issues of interest and a platform for taking action locally to benefit others. YALLAH: Commit to Action
In April 2012, QFI selected 36 students from Brazil, Qatar and multiple cities in the U.S. for a youth leadership in Minnesota, done in partnership with the National Youth Leadership Council.
Concordia Language Villages
In summer of 2011, QFI established a partnership with Concordia Language Villages. 31 youth from 20 different schools attended 2 or 4-week sessions at Al Waha, the Arabic Language Village.
