Sindith Küster
Sindith Küster is as K-12 Education Consultant for Qatar Foundation International, based in Berlin. She is establishing programs to teach Arabic at schools for German students as well as heritage speakers. One focus of her work is cross-cultural projects and refugee programs.
Sindith lived and worked for over seven years in the Middle East. Prior to joining QFI in October 2017, Sindith developed teaching materials about Islamic art and culture for Qatar Museums. Sindith has extensive experience working on cross-cultural projects with international organizations in Germany, Singapore, Israel, the UK and Qatar. Her professional, academic and voluntary services and activities focus on education, art and religion.
In her work career, Sindith has covered a wide field in publishing and communications. In publishing, she worked with S. Fischer Verlag in Frankfurt am Main, as well as leading the development of publication projects at Hodder Education Language Division and advising on the digital development of the BBC Monitoring library. In her early career she was part of the team to organize various media events, ranging from the Jerusalem Film Festival to ISTAF in Berlin, Europe’s largest track and field meeting.
Sindith’s career began as a bookseller’s apprentice at Hamburger Bücherstube Felix Jud & Co., focusing on children’s books and art publications. Drawing on her extensive historic knowledge, Sindith is also the author of Pastfinder Hamburg, a guide to Hamburg’s history during the era of National Socialism.
She studied Communications Science and Jewish Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin as well as Archeology, Philosophy and History at Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Sindith holds a second degree in Culture and Media Management as well as Jewish Studies from the Freie Universität Berlin.
