Classroom Connections grants provide supplementary funding of up to $55,000 for secondary school teachers to take student groups on immersive travel abroad experiences to Qatar. We believe travel experiences are vastly enhanced by including pre-trip virtual exchange activities to better engage with the host culture. In keeping with this mission, applications must include a virtual exchange program that ties in directly with their trip.
The application period for this opportunity is currently closed.
At this time, QFI is closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic to evaluate the potential of international travel in the future. QFI will release specific application information and deadlines when the program is re-launched.
To be notified of updates with this program please sign up for QFI’s listserv.
Setting up a Virtual Exchange Program
Applicants are free to implement any type of virtual exchange program as long as it ties in directly to the trip.
If applicants with no previous experience in virtual exchange are awarded a Classroom Connections grant, they are encouraged to sign up for QFI’s free courses on implementing successful virtual exchange programs on the QFI Community on the Participate.com platform.
Planning a Student Exchange Trip to Qatar
To help with the trip-planning process, we have created a Qatar resource guide which you can access below:
Additionally, we have also assembled a collection of classroom resources and lesson plans relating to Qatar and other countries in the Gulf/Arab Peninsula region. You can access this collection on QFI’s online open resource platform, Al Masdar:
