Shubbak – which means “window” in Arabic – supports and celebrates Arab artists’ creativity and innovation through London’s largest biennial festival of contemporary Arab culture, as well as a variety of engagement programs. It brings new and unexpected voices alongside established artists to London every two years, connecting audiences and communities with the best of contemporary Arab visual arts, film, music, theatre, dance, literature and debate. In 2019 Shubbak presented over 150 artists at more than 70 events, reaching an audience of 56,000 people.
QFI has been a major partner of Shubbak since 2018. Programs that QFI has supported included a free event at London’s iconic National Theatre, traveling tours by Arab artists, and literary discussions at the British Library.
