Qatar Foundation International (QFI) is an organization committed to advancing Arabic language teaching and learning. QFI supports innovative, research-based Arabic language programs in state-funded primary and secondary schools and works to increase access to Arabic instruction for educators and students around the world.

Position Summary

QFI is seeking a Policy Intern to assist in researching education policy initiatives related to Arabic language learning. The intern will work closely with our Communications and External Affairs team.

Position Functions and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Communications and External Affairs, the intern will:

  • Conduct research on education policy issues related to foreign language learning in the US and EU.
  • Analyze legislative proposals, regulations, and initiatives impacting language education in the US.
  • Summarize and synthesize complex policy documents into clear and concise reports for internal use.
  • Assist in identifying trends and best practices in language education policy in the US and EU.
  • Collaborate with research and program teams for knowledge and data sharing
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure policy considerations are integrated into program development and external communications efforts.
  • Support the development of outreach materials, including fact sheets, policy briefs, and presentations.
  • Assist in organizing events, webinars, and meetings with key stakeholders in the education and language learning sectors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Arabic language and culture is a plus, but not required.

Experience and Education

  • Current graduate student with a course work related to education policy, internationalrelations and policy making.

To be considered for this internship, you must reside in the DC Metro Area.
