QFI Shares Assessment Webinar Resources to Support Arabic Language Programs

Apr 28, 2026

Qatar Foundation International is sharing three webinar resources on Arabic language assessment to help educators, school leaders, and policymakers better understand proficiency-based tools that can strengthen instruction, expand student opportunity, and provide clearer evidence of program impact.

Standardized proficiency assessments play an important role in Arabic language education by making student learning visible, credible, and recognized beyond the classroom. For educators, assessments help track student progress and inform instruction. For school leaders and policymakers, they help demonstrate program outcomes and the academic value of Arabic language education.

As part of its commitment to strengthening Arabic language education in public schools, QFI provides financial support for proficiency assessments for Arabic language programs in public and state funded schools, including NEWL, AAPPL, and STAMP, depending on district or school approval and alignment with world language curriculum frameworks. This support helps programs document student proficiency, connect learning to recognized credentials, and strengthen long term program sustainability.

This spring, as programs across QFI’s network prepare for annual proficiency assessments, QFI is sharing three webinar resources focused on assessments currently used across the field.

2026 NEWL Arabic: Informational Session

Hosted by American Councils on March 3, 2026, this Arabic focused webinar on the National Examinations in World Languages, or NEWL, covered exam details, key dates, registration, eligibility, and updates. The Arabic NEWL exam helps high school students demonstrate language proficiency, qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy in many states, submit official scores for college placement or credit, and earn nationally recognized language credentials.

STAMP Testing for Arabic Programs

Hosted by Avant on March 30, 2026, this webinar focused on Avant’s STAMP assessment for Arabic, covering how programs can use STAMP to document student proficiency and support pathways such as the Seal of Biliteracy. The session also highlighted how assessment results can help educators and school leaders better understand student proficiency, inform instruction, and strengthen program planning.

AAPPL for Arabic Learners

Hosted by Language Testing International on April 1, 2026, this webinar explained how the AAPPL, or ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages, supports Arabic language programs by providing reliable, standards-based measures of students’ interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational language skills. The webinar also highlighted how AAPPL results can support curriculum decisions, highlight student achievement, and provide meaningful evidence of program effectiveness. Watch the webinar here:

Together, these webinar resources reflect QFI’s broader commitment to making Arabic language learning more visible, more rigorous, and more widely recognized across schools and systems.
