QFI Blog: Voices Advancing Arabic Language Education

At Qatar Foundation International (QFI), we are committed to advancing the value of teaching and learning Arabic as a global language. To support this mission, we invite educators, researchers, experts, and other related stakeholders to contribute to our blog series, "Voices Advancing Arabic Language Education."

Our goal is to create a vibrant network where professionals can exchange ideas, address challenges, and share innovative practices, while advocating for Arabic in both academic and professional fields. Each blog post offers a unique opportunity to engage a global audience—connecting diverse voices of educators, students, and experts to advance Arabic language education.

Your voice will play a key role in shaping the conversation and advancing thought leadership in the field. We welcome submissions that spark dialogue, share fresh perspectives, and offer practical insights.

  • Who Can Contribute?

    We welcome blog contributions from professionals engaged in Arabic education within our regions of work, regardless of their specific role. Contributors may include, but are not limited to:

    • Arabic Language Educators: Teachers at all levels—primary and secondary/K-12 level or university.
    • Researchers and Academics: Scholars specializing in Arabic linguistics, pedagogy, language acquisition, and related fields.
    • School Principals and Educational Leaders: Leaders who oversee or manage Arabic language programs, and who can offer perspectives on promoting Arabic education within schools or institutions.
    • Policymakers and Educational Planners: Individuals involved in shaping educational policies related to Arabic language instruction, both locally and nationally.
    • Curriculum Designers and Instructional Coordinators: Professionals responsible for creating Arabic language curricula, educational materials, and digital tools to enhance language learning.
    • Language Specialists and Translators: Experts in Arabic dialects, translation, or interpretation, sharing how Arabic is used in global communication or professional settings.
    • Assessment Specialists: Individuals with expertise in proficiency testing, language credentials, and general tools and practices for assessment.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation Leaders: Individuals within the education space that specialize in the M&E/MEL aspects of L2 education.
    • Technology and EdTech Professionals: Developers and creators of tools and apps designed to support Arabic language education through innovative technologies.
  • Blog Topics:

    We welcome blog submissions on any aspect of Arabic language education at the primary and secondary/K-12 level. Contributions can cover a wide range of ideas related to Arabic teaching and learning, opportunities and challenges in teaching, exploring new strategies, methodologies, tools, and perspectives that shape the future of Arabic education.

  • Guidelines for Blog Submission:

    Please adhere to the following guidelines when submitting your blog to ensure that it meets our standards:

    • Length: Blogs should be between 600-1,500 words.
    • Originality: If referencing other works, be sure to properly cite your sources.
    • Citations: For cited sources, writers should consistently follow the APA style guide.
    • Tone and Style: Write in an engaging, professional, and accessible tone.
    • Formatting:
      • Use headings and subheadings for clarity.
      • Include real-world examples or case studies to support your points.
      • Where appropriate, use lists or bullet points for easy readability.
    • Visuals: Where applicable, include relevant images, charts, or infographics. Ensure you have permission to use the visuals.
    • Language: Submissions must be written in English.
    • Content: Please avoid any polarizing topics such as politics and religion or using disparaging language. In addition, be cautious of using the names of individuals or institutions without prior approval.
  • How to Submit Your Blog:

    Submitting your blog is easy! Simply follow these steps:

    1. Prepare Your Blog: Write your blog following the guidelines outlined above.
    2. Fill Out the Submission Form: Visit the submission page on SMApply and complete the form. You will need to provide:
      1. Your name, email, and affiliation (if applicable).
      2. A brief bio (2-3 sentences) about yourself and your experience in Arabic language education.
      3. The title of your blog and the topic you are addressing.
      4. Your blog post in the submission box, or as an attached document (Word).
      5. A professional photo (png or jpeg format).
    3. Attach Visuals: If your post includes images or charts, attach them as well.
    4. Submit Your Blog: After completing the form and uploading your materials, click Submit. You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging the receipt of your blog submission.
    5. Review and Publication: Our team will evaluate your submission based on its quality and relevance. If your blog is selected for publication, we will notify you of the next steps. Once accepted, the blog will be published depending on QFI’s workload and submission pipeline.
