For educators of a less common language like Arabic, it is a rare moment to meet professionals peers, learn about the newest research and thought on issues of interest, and recognize connections with teachers of other languages. Because of this, QFI sponsors, has a presence at, and supports attendance at major language conferences. In the United States, the ACTFL Convention, in Germany, Expolingua, and in the United Kingdom, The Language Show.
We offer the Dora Johnson Awards on an annual basis to help increase the number of primary and secondary school Arabic teachers who may attend the annual ACTFL Convention. These awards provide funding to help participants cover ACTFL registration and attendance expenses.
We also support other regional language education conferences in the geographies where we work, and provide Maharaat Grants to teachers looking to attend conferences to benefit their professional development.
