Empowering Arabic Learners: QFI Launches 2025-26 Arabic Speaking Competition

Oct 1, 2025

QFI (Qatar Foundation International) today announced the official launch of the 2025-26 Arabic Speaking Competition (ASC), an initiative designed to boost student engagement and skill development in Arabic language learning.

This year's competition aims to drive student registrations and video submissions and is open to secondary -school-aged Arabic students in schools in Canada, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the UK, and the US.

The ASC serves as a powerful catalyst, providing a unique platform for learners to engage with the language beyond the traditional classroom, fostering authentic use and skill development. It is designed to inspire and motivate students—to showcase their Arabic skills, creativity, and confidence, while supporting proficiency aligned with formal assessments such as GCSEs, AAPPL (ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages), or OPIs (Oral Proficiency Interviews). In doing so, competition makes the language more relevant and accessible.

For students, QFI aims to cultivate an environment where they feel empowered to showcase their voice, share personal stories, and express their language skills in Arabic, making the language relevant through fun, creative, and personal engagement. The competition is a cornerstone in building student confidence through real-world speaking experiences and offers recognition as part of a celebration of Arabic learners, ultimately opening doors to future academic and professional opportunities.

Through the ASC, QFI envisions a dynamic and enriched Arabic learning ecosystem where educators are empowered with practical tools to integrate speaking and listening skills into their curriculum, thereby boosting student engagement and energizing Arabic classrooms. The ASC is designed to support assessment readiness by reinforcing skills crucial for oral proficiency examinations, while also providing a unique opportunity for teachers to mentor students, guide them in preparing strong entries, and celebrate their achievements, elevating the importance of Arabic education within schools and communities.

Furthermore, QFI believes the ASC will enable school administrators and program decision-makers to demonstrate tangible student learning outcomes through speaking performance, effectively showcasing program impact. It is a strategic effort to support student achievement by encouraging communication, confidence, and cultural engagement, thereby promoting the value of Arabic as a high-impact, relevant educational offering. Ultimately, the competition seeks to engage the wider community, strengthening school-wide interest in multilingual learning and fostering a robust future for Arabic education.
