QFI Launches the Arabic Teacher Training Certification Award to Support K–12 Educators

Oct 8, 2025

Qatar Foundation International (QFI) announced the launch of the Arabic Teacher Training Certification Award, a new initiative to support aspiring and current K-12 educators in obtaining professional teaching certification.

The award is open to educators in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe who are seeking to become certified teachers of Arabic in state-funded or public schools. Applicants must have been accepted into or be in the process of applying to a recognized teacher certification program (e.g., PGCE, PME, MAT).

This transformative award directly addresses the critical need for certified Arabic language instructors by providing financial assistance to defray costs associated with attending the program. As a rolling grant program available year-round, it is designed to inspire a new generation of educators by offering not only funding but also mentorship and access to a professional network. The program is a key component of QFI’s broader goal to build a sustainable infrastructure for Arabic language education.

Through this initiative, QFI aims to create a vibrant ecosystem where educators are equipped with advanced skills and knowledge to enhance their curricula, boost student engagement, and energize their classrooms. Award recipients will join a dynamic community of new and experienced Arabic teachers, fostering valuable connections and mentorship opportunities. They may also be invited to attend QFI-sponsored conferences and workshops to further their professional growth.

This strategic effort also aims to demonstrate the significant impact of certified instructors on program quality, thereby encouraging school administrators and decision-makers to invest in professional development for their language faculty.

Award Details:

  • Eligibility: Aspiring or current K-12 educators in the US, Canada, UK, and Europe who are applying to or have been accepted into a teacher certification program for the purpose of teaching Arabic.
  • Application: This rolling grant program accepts applications year-round with no fixed deadline, ensuring continuous support for educators.
