2026 First-Year University Award Now Open

Mar 4, 2026

QFI is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 First-Year University Award

The First-Year University Award is a one-time, merit-based award for students in their final year of secondary (high) school studying Arabic to continue studying the language at a university of their choice.

Students frequently discontinue Arabic study during the transition from secondary school to university. This award supports this critical transition point by recognizing academic achievement and demonstrated passion for the Arabic language while encouraging continued study at the post-secondary level.

This award is an important opportunity for students ready to take the next step in their Arabic language learning journey at the post-secondary level. Through this award, students can further develop their Arabic skills, boost academic performance, and expand future career opportunities.

Eligible applicants are current students in their final year of secondary (high) school at a public or state-funded secondary school and currently studying Arabic in a program located in the countries where QFI currently works (Canada, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States). Students must be planning to attend a post-secondary university, college, or community college and continue their study of Arabic. In their application essays, students will explain how Arabic fits into their planned program of study and make a case for their selected institution and program.

Award Recipients will receive up to $10,000 to cover tuition costs for a post-secondary degree program that includes Arabic language course/s beginning in the fall 2026 semester.

We encourage students to apply for the award to continue their Arabic learning journey at university. The First-Year University Award recognizes your achievement and supports your transition from high school to higher education.

Application Deadline: April 13, 2026
