QFI Joins Language World 2026 to Advance Collaboration in Language Education

Mar 19, 2026

Leicestershire, UK (March 2026) – Qatar Foundation International (QFI) participated in Language World 2026 to share practical approaches to strengthening Arabic education and to ensure Arabic is included in the broader professional conversations shaping the future of language learning in the UK.

Language World, the annual conference of the Association of Language Learning (ALL), brings together educators, school leaders, and language professionals from across the UK.

For QFI, the event provides an important opportunity to connect Arabic educators into the wider professional conversation about language education, share effective practice, and engage teachers, school leaders, and language professionals whose decisions influence how languages are taught and sustained in schools.

Participation in the conference also supports ongoing efforts to strengthen the future of Arabic language in the UK by raising its visibility in schools and helping build stronger pathways between primary and secondary education.

This year’s event included 10 Arabic educators attending or presenting, with QFI-supported educators contributing presentations on school collaboration, gamified learning, and intercultural exchange.

QFI Program Officer Tahreem Akhtar and UK educator Chaitan R. presented “Closing the gap: transitioning Arabic from primary to secondary successfully.” Their session explored how collaboration between primary and secondary schools can strengthen awareness of Arabic, support student recruitment, and build clearer pathways into sustained language study.

“Our session showed how collaboration between primary and secondary schools strengthen pathways into Arabic learning,” said Akhtar. “By engaging pupils, parents, and teachers at the primary level schools can raise awareness of Arabic as a modern foreign language, support student transition to secondary, and build the foundations for more effective and sustained language learning.”

QFI-supported educators also presented on classroom collaboration and intercultural connection between schools, highlighting how partnership and creative practice can strengthen Arabic teaching and learning.

“Language World is an important space for bringing together educators and partners from across the UK to strengthen language education,” explained Tony Calderbank, United Kingdom Consultant for QFI. “For QFI, it is especially valuable to see Arabic included in these wider professional conversations, as growing the presence of Arabic within the UK languages landscape depends on collaboration, visibility, and sustained support for Arabic educators.”

Through its participation in Language World 2026, QFI highlighted its role in supporting Arabic educators, sharing effective practice, and strengthening Arabic’s visibility within the UK’s wider language education community. The discussions also reflected a growing opportunity for the sector: increased interest from primary schools, strong student enthusiasm for continuing Arabic, and growing evidence that early exposure can help build a more sustainable pipeline for Arabic in the UK.
